Observations on Germany #11

Teaching is just about to start here in Munich, which brings with it the challenge of running a seminar in German. (At least I don't have to give a lecture in German, which I think would be harder or at least more tiring!) I'll be teaching a seminar on "Neuplatonismus" which I bet you can translate even if you don't know German, plus a higher level seminar on ancient epistemology in English. A lot of the teaching here is in English which I find quite striking; it's amusing to imagine a whole bunch of university courses being offered in German to, say, American or British students. It is really handy to speak the "world language" as one's mother tongue.
